We proudly to present the work of illustrator Nate Otto. This is a continuation of our call for illustrators and graphic designers to redesign our website. If you’re interested in participating click here for more information.
We will be posting more of Nate’s work on our site in the future. Until then, read his artist statement about his design.
I’m Nate Otto. I’ve been making art all of my life. I can’t help it. I always want to make stuff. My art hasn’t led to great worldly success but I don’t sense any signs of slowing down. I believe that the creative impulse is the same for all art forms. It is just a question of which skill has been developed the most and where you have the most refined taste. For a few years after art school I really wasn’t making much stuff, but about a year and a half ago I snapped out of it and I’ve been cranking out the work ever since. I find that when I’m making work I’m happier and more pleasant to be around. Lately I’ve been putting on group art shows and seeking out people to collaborate with. I respect anyone who makes art that is pure in intention and original. We will never know if we are great artists, but we have no excuse to stop.
I created this piece to go along with what I think Final Fight Family is trying to do. We are one city and we are all connected. Our creativity is what connects us. WE make shit. I don’t care what part of town you are from, where you went to school, or how much money your parents make. I don’t care if you are a star or an unknown. You are what you make. You are how you treat others. I respect those who shut up and do it.
- Nate Otto
